Overview

Krystina Madej is Professor of the Practice at the School of Literature, Media, and Communication at Georgia Tech, Atlanta where she has taught since 2011. Her research interests include narrative as material culture and how humans have adapted their narratives to changing social media throughout the centuries, physical play and children's interaction with narrative based digital games, and Disney's approach to stories across media. Her books include a second edition of Disney Stories: Getting to Digital (Springer 2020), Physical Play and Children's Digital Games (Springer 2016), Interactivity, Collaboration, and Authoring in Social Media (Springer 2015), and the co-written, Disney Stories: Getting to Digital (Springer 2012). She has also co-edited Engaging Imagination and Developing Creativity (2010), a global discussion about the importance of imagination and creativity in education. Prior to returning to academia, she was a design strategist and principal in a co-owned design firm creating successful brands, pr, marketing, and exhibits for government, business, industry, and the non-profit sector. She has a PhD in Digital Narrative from the School of Interactive Art and Technology at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada, an MA in Professional Writing from Kennesaw State, Georgia, and a Bachelor of Fine Art from Concordia University in Montreal.
