Michael S. Terrell is a native of Atlanta, GA. He is a Higher Education Leadership Doctoral Candidate at Clark Atlanta University.  His research interests include representation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, student development and success, and HBCUs, to name a few.  

Terrell earned his master’s in Higher Education Administration and his bs in Broadcasting from Georgia Southern University.  

Michael has worked in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication, and the School of Computational Science and Engineering as an Associate Director of Graduate Studies and Graduate Coordinator, respectively. He is an advocate of recruiting, retaining and graduating students with a student-centered approach.     

Michael has previously served the higher education community as a graduate assistant in the Office of Student Leadership and Development at Georgia Southern and as an Academic Advisor in the Office of Academic Assistance in the College of Arts and Sciences at Georgia State University. 

He facilitates excellent communication and partnership between graduate programs, campus partners, and students through advising, curriculum, and program development processes, the organization and implementation of academic policies for the graduate community. 

Michael is an executive board member with SEGAP, the Southeastern Association of Graduate Enrollment Management Professionals as the Georgia State Coordinator; he’s a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership honor society, and an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha, Fraternity Inc.
