Congrats, Graduates! Meet the Fall Class of 2021

Please join us in congratulating our fall class of 2021!

The School of Literature, Media, and Communication Fall 2021 graduates demonstrated dedication, adaptability, and perseverance to successfully complete their studies at Georgia Tech. Now, we're proud to celebrate their efforts as they move on to their next chapters.

As Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie said, "As you graduate, as you deal with your excitement and your doubts today, I urge you to try and create the world you want to live in. Minister to the world in a way that can change it.” We can't wait to see what you achieve next with your humanistic perspective in this technological world!

Post-Graduation Plans?

I want to explore. Whether that is locally in Atlanta, out of state, or out of the country, I want to take the time to really explore and try new things. I don't think I did enough of that in college, so my post-grad plans are to just do more exploring!

What was your most exciting or unique experience at Georgia Tech?

My most exciting experience at Georgia Tech was watching the Georgia Tech NPHC Step Show for the first time. If you have never seen a step show, I highly recommend you check out the next one. It’s such a fun exciting experience and because the Black community is small at Georgia Tech, I think the moments we come together automatically become some of the most exciting and memorable experiences of mine.

Which professor or staff member in LMC has had the biggest impact on you and why?

Dr. Susana Morris has been the professor that has had the biggest impact on me throughout my time at Tech. She was the first Black female professor I had at Tech and, from day one as her student, I was in awe of how she used her voice, her presence, and her mind. I have loved each of the classes I have taken with her. She is a fantastic role model for Black women in liberal arts.

What advice would you give to incoming students in LMC?

Chart your own path. We have the luxury of being in a major that allows us so much choice. Take your time to really decide what path you want to take and which combination of classes you want to take to get there. You have a lot of freedom so use it wisely.

Congratulations, Briana!

Post-Graduation Plans?

I will be attending the University of Georgia School of Law next fall.

What was your favorite class in LMC and why?

I really enjoyed Technical Communication. I liked learning all the different formats for writing. I found the process of condensing difficult information into something concise and easy to understand to be an almost fun challenge.

What has been your biggest challenge at Georgia Tech, and how did you overcome it?

When I first came to Tech, I had a hard time setting aside time outside of class to de-stress. I found that going to non-academic events or investigating clubs that interested me really helped me relax and have fun.

What advice would you give to incoming students in LMC?

Imposter Syndrome is a very real feeling that many people coming to Tech have. Remember you were accepted for a reason, and you have the same potential as any other student here.

Congratulations, Bailee!
