Jessica Anderson

Background

My research in pedagogy and my teaching methods veered sharply toward digital media, so I carved out a new curve in my career path by earning my second master’s degree in Digital Media from the Georgia Institute of Technology. My capstone project was an interactive installation inside of a 22’ projection mapped geodesic dome that I designed with a team of software developers. It was a finalist in the Field Experiment grant competition hosted by The Hambidge Center for Creative Arts & Sciences and The Goat Farm Arts Center and was debuted at the 2016 Hambidge Auction & Performance Gala.

Personal Quote

Through my artwork and work with institutions, I challenge myself and my colleagues to think critically and creatively about digital technologies and the ways that we apply them in our lives.

Work Experience

I served as the Assistant Director at Spelman College’s Innovation Lab. My goals were to build digital literacy and creative problem-solving skills among students and faculty. I worked to push the boundaries of digital art and amplify the artistic voices of young, Black women. I later worked with the Office of the Arts at Georgia Tech to develop a media strategy that supports their mission of campus and community engagement with digital arts. I continue to create digital art installations collaboratively with fellow artists in Atlanta and founded Into Outof Studio in 2018.  We have worked with organizations like Digital Naturalism Labs, Fernbank Museum of Natural History, Re:Imagine ATL, Eyedrum Gallery, and The Bakery.
