Karen Head, associate professor in the School of Literature, Media and Communication, had her poem "Proximity" featured in American Life in Poetry, a feature that provides newspapers and online publications with a weekly column of modern American poetry. Head's poem can be found at this link and in the website's column archive.
American Life in Poetry was started by Ted Kooser, the Poet Laureate of the United States from 2004 to 2006. The project is a collaboration between the Poetry Foundation and the Library of Congress.
"Proximity", in which Head meditates on the demarcation between humans and nature, marks her debut in American Life in Poetry. The poem is from Head's latest book of poems, Lost on Purpose.
